21st June 2019
It has been observed across the world that an individual is facing increasing levels of uncertainties and consequently increasing levels of tension and stress while performing day to-day’s tasks at the workplace. These increasing levels of tension and stress, in turn, impact the relations at the workplace as well as in the family circles. In this type of prevailing and unavoidable scenario, "Yoga", a contribution from Indian culture offers a solution. Yoga essentially aims at synchronizing the body and mind of an individual with its techniques such as "Asana", "Pranayama" and "Dhyna". These techniques aim at calming down the mind and enable an individual to approach his/her problems effectively. Considering its importance, as highlighted in the proposal initiated by India, the United Nations, on December 11, 2014, decided to observe June 21 of every year as “International Yoga Day”. Accordingly, in more than 180 countries the 1st International Yoga Day was observed on June 21, 2015.
In tune with the practice all over India and keeping the growing importance of Yoga in day-to-day life, MATS Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship has been observing the International Yoga Day on June 21 of every year starting from 2015 and the 5th International Yoga Day was observed on June 21, 2019.
The event constituted the celebration of "5th International Yoga Day" focused on understanding the significance and fundamentals of "Yoga Philosophy" and actually experiencing its benefits by performing "Asanas", "Pranayama" and "Dhyna" through different techniques. Dr. Arun B. K. was the facilitator. Faculty, Staff, and Students of MIME graced the occasion. The participants felt the necessity to gradually increase the presence of a yogic component in their day-to-day lives.
