Strength of India lies in its cultural diversity and because of this diversity, an average Indian is bestowed with an opportunity to live and learn from different cultures from his/her childhood. This aspect has been instrumental in increasing tolerance levels and degree of learning among Indians. Interestingly, both culture and management aim at solving problems and thus cultural sensitivity and cultural intelligence play a vital role in management education. Students of MATS Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (MIME) come from diverse cultural backgrounds. Recognizing the basic tenet of culture as a force that gives direction to the living of a group in general and its behavior in particular, MATS Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (MIME) has been open to leverage this aspect by celebrating various cultural festivals such as Rakhi, Holi, Onam etc. To continue with this tradition, MIME organized 'Kannada Rajyotsava' on 14 November, 2017.
The function began with initial remarks from Dr. Jitendra Kumar Mishra, Director of MIME. The Chief Guest of the function was Dr. R Srinivasiah, Principal, Jain Evening College. In his address, Dr. Srinivasiah brought about the tolerant, learning and accommodative nature of Kannadigas and the richness of Kannada language. The function was characterized by events specially designed to educate the participants about the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka. A video film highlighting the rich historical, traditional and cultural aspects Karnataka was also screened to help the participants connect with the context.
The whole function was conceptualized, designed and conducted by the Cultural Committee of MIME. Faculty members and students of MIME graced the occasion.
