MIME conducted Workshop on Operations Management

An organization constantly interacts with its external environment through products and services. Activities that are concerned with products and services are termed as operations. Since the revenue of any organization need to come necessarily through its products and services, “Operations Management” is the life-blood of any organization. A successful manager need to get exposure and be familiar to the nuances of operations management.

Keeping this vital requirement of operations management in mind, MATS Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship has organized a workshop on Operations Management on 3 March 2018 for II semester PGDM students.

Sri. T M Chandrasekhar (popularly known as Chandu Tadanki), Director, Oracle Software Support Services, Oracle E-Business Mfg./SCM Suite at Oracle India Pvt Ltd, Bangalore and an alumnus from NITIE Mumbai with more than 20 years of professional experience in operations was the facilitator for the workshop. With interactions, quizzes, practical real-time examples and challenging short-assignments, the facilitator effectively navigated through the interesting topics on (i) need for focus on monetary outcomes, (ii) importance of business cycles, (iii) value of time in operations, (iv) the power of preliminary decisions, (v) vital importance of product and service design, layout and material handling, (vi) relevance of operational planning and control, (vii) operational imperatives of productivity, quality, materials management and learning curve, and (viii) emerging trends and way ahead in operations with topics such as green manufacturing, cloud based services of IAAS, PAAS, SAAS, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The workshop was jointly coordinated by Dr. Arun B.K. Professor, MIME and Sri. Phani Krishna, General Manager (HR), Landmark Group.
