In order to provide the practitioners’ perspective of Strategic Management, a workshop was organized for the students of Semester II, PGDM 2017-19 batch on 27 and 28 February 2018.
The main objective of this workshop was to facilitate students in understanding the nuances of strategy making in simulated business scenario. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Natrajan Krishnan, Principal Consultant of Sadashiva Consulting Services. Mr. Krishnan emphasized in his own unique style that "If you don't have a strategy you will be a part of somebody else's strategy".
The facilitator illustrated several practical examples of current scenarios of the industry activities and components of strategic management. He also explained the internal and external environment which affects the strategy and how to overcome it. The speaker highlighted the comprising of SWOT, PESTEL, Porter’s model of Strategy Analysis, strategy formulation of inside out and outside in and strategy implication on the basis of balance scorecard. The speaker further highlighted the importance of competitive advantage in strategic management based on the cost and uniqueness of any organization, various level of strategy designed at corporate level, business level and operational or functional level.
The students found the entire workshop very informative, interactive and appreciated the learning.
