news and events

All over the world, individuals are facing increasing levels of complexities and uncertainties in their personal and professional lives. As a consequence, they are experiencing high levels of tension and stress which impacts performance levels and relations at the workplace and at home. All of these factors are escalating the quantity and variety of problems that people must deal with throughout life. Yoga, a contribution from Indian culture, provides a clear remedy for this scenario. The United Nations decided to recognise June 21st of each year as the International Day of Yoga on December 11, 2014, taking into account its significance as emphasised in the request put forth by India. The first International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21st, 2015, in more than 180 nations.

In tune with the practice all over India and keeping the growing importance of Yoga in day-to-day life, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), MATS Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (MIME) has been observing International Yoga Day every year starting from 2015. This year 8th International Day of Yoga was observed on 21st June 2022 at the institute premises.

The event celebrated the International Day of Yoga and focused on understanding the significance and fundamentals of yoga philosophy through an emphasis on the essence of Asanas, Pranayama, and Dhyana. The events also focused on experiencing the benefits of yogic techniques by performing Agni Mudra and Prana Mudra. The event was facilitated by Dr. Arun B.K. The faculty, staff, and students of MIME were part of the occasion. The participants realised the necessity to gradually increase the presence of yogic components in their day-to-day lives.
