"Convocation Day" forms an important day in the life of a student because it is the day on which a student formally earns recognition for the years of his/her hard-work. It is an important day because it provides the student with an occasion to celebrate with the family members, who with their sacrifices, made this day possible for the students. In addition, "Convocation Day" at the post-graduate level, signifies the beginning of responsibilities wherein one needs to continuously meet the changing needs of different stakeholders. Keeping these aspects in mind, MIME organized the Convocation - 2019 on 9 November 2019 wherein the PGDM students of the institute were conferred the Post-Graduate Diploma in Management. In addition, the graduating students were bestowed with words of wisdom from learned scholars and management practitioners.

Prof. N.V.H Krishnan, Registrar, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) representing the Chairman, Board of Governors formally declared the convocation open and delivered the welcome address. In his address, Prof. Krishnan congratulated the new graduates for their efforts and wished them all the best in their professional journey in the fields of management and entrepreneurship. He further urged the graduating students to develop thoughts of gratitude towards their parents, the institute and the society at large.

Shri. Ravindra Bhandary, Vice-President, Jain Group of Institutions graced the occasion. Shri. Bhandary, in his welcome address urged the students to believe in hard work as a means for dream realization. He further urged the students to emphasize on commitment, health and the need to learn from failures. Dr. B.T. Venkatesh Director (Distance Education and Virtual Learning), Jain (Deemed-to-be University) graced the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Venkatesh emphasized on the need to contribute to society which in turn will result in the real self-growth on a continuous basis.

Dr. Jitendra Kumar Mishra, Chief Mentor, MIME welcomed the guests and all the dignitaries and students present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mishra highlighted the salient achievements of MATS Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship over the past one year. He reminded the graduating students about the need to maintain one’s learning ability in order to adapt to the rapid changes happening all around. Dr. Mishra further touched upon the importance of agility and awareness to competition as a means for better adaptation to uncertain times ahead.

Mr. Pradeep Soorengi, Head - Campus Recruitment, TCS, Karnataka was the Special Guest. He distributed the medals and merit certificates to the achievers from PGDM 2017-19 batch in Marketing and HR Stream. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Soorengi urged the graduating students to recognize the rapid changes that are takin place in the competitive world and to adopt to them through a mindset to experiment and learn from one’s experiences.

Mr. Kumaran Sampath, Director and CEO – Olety Finance Pvt Ltd and AEGMA Capital Services, was the Guest of Honor. He distributed the medals and merit certificates to the achievers from PGDM 2017-19 Batch in Marketing and Finance Stream. Addressing the graduating students, Mr. Sampath highlighted the importance of time by giving importance to be first rather than to be the best so as to achieve and sustain success. The speaker further emphasized on the lessons to be learnt from failures because failures are inevitable in all improvement related initiatives.

Mr. Param Veer Singh Narang, Vice President- Head Campus Recruitment - India and Malaysia, Standard Chartered Bank was the Chief Guest of the occasion. He distributed the Gold Medal and merit certificate to the Overall Topper of the PGDM 2017-19 Batch. In his address to the graduating students, Mr. Narang highlighted the importance of cultivating the learning attitude through humbleness. Drawing out the wisdom from his vast experience, the speaker stressed on the importance of three S viz., Smart Work, Solution-Orientation and Simplicity in approach.

Prof. N V H Krishnan, Registrar, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) conferred the Post- Graduate Diploma Certificates to 93 graduating PGDM students in person and to 23 students in absentia. Dr. Jitendra Kumar Mishra, Chief Mentor, MIME administered the "MATS Graduation Oath" to the graduating students. Prof. Reji Meprathe conducted the proceedings of the Convocation in co-ordination with Dr. Suman Pathak. The formal vote of thank was proposed by Prof. K.M. Ravi Kumar. The function formally concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
